Cox's Bazar and Sundarbans, two natural sites of Bangladesh, have been taken off the list of New 7 Wonders of Nature on Wednesday with charges of violating the voting rules. Prior to removal from the list, the two natural sites had occupied the top two positions. New 7 Wonders of Nature Foundation's voting rule allows for one vote from any single e-mail account. Some overenthusiastic supporters have violated the rule. New 7 Wonders of Nature Foundation claimed that some Internet sites are collecting multiple votes for Cox's Bazar and Sundarbans through a single email address in violation of the voting rules of the foundation. Shafique Alam Mehdi, chairman of Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation, expressed his deep regret, saying any violation of the New 7 Wonders of Nature Foundation rules would be suicidal for the country. "This competition involves our national interest; so, we all should vote for Cox's Bazar and Sundarbans according to the rules and regulations of the foundation," he said. He said BPC has already taken necessary measures including posting of warning notices in media to bring the two places back in the list again. BPC contacted the foundation yesterday and started working on its suggestions, the BPC chairman said. In May, Ha Long Bay of Vietnam was also removed from the list for the same reason. Later, it was again placed on the list after the Vietnamese tourism authority had posted warning note in media and conducted voting according to the rules.
